Ski Experience Solitude

The best part about skiing Solitude is that oftentimes the runs will be sparsely dotted with skiers and powder caches abound, even a few days after a storm. The serenity that embodies Solitude is seen in all aspects of the resort, the infrequent crowds, the idyllic Bavarianesque village at the base of the mountain and perhaps the most impressive element of the resort is the breathtaking peaks, forests and snow-covered meadows that surround it.

Solitude boasts 1,200 acres of terrain, more than 65 runs, three bowls and over 2,000 feet of vertical. Solitude has a bevy of runs appropriate to all skill levels, 20% beginner, 50% intermediate and 30% for advanced and expert skiers only. The terrain is accessed by a number of lifts, the bowls are also accessible by the lifts. Expert and advanced skiers have to check out the Honeycomb Bowl which boasts some of the best backcountry terrain in the entire area. For a slower paced day, Solitude has over 20km of Nordic tracks and more than 10km of snowshoeing trails.

The ski area also hosts an extensive variety of ski lessons. Their illustrious Snowsports Academy offers four types of lessons, alpine skiing, snowboarding, telemarking and Nordic skiing. The classes are designed for all ages and abilities, all lessons are taught by certified professionals and group sizes are kept quite small. As an added bonus, more advanced skiers may be interested in signing up for Solitude’s renowned, Back Tracks program, which is lead by Solitude’s own highly trained ski patrol. Back Tracks groups will be lead out of bounds and taught avalanche safety and avoidance, equipment and lunch is included in the cost of the lesson.

The mountain has basic amenities including the Village Hosts who are available and ready to help suggest activities, book lodging and dining and aid guests in any way to ensure a fantastic vacation. They are also the go-to people to find great deals and discounts on an array of activities both within the village and outside of it. Daycare, medical services, and a full service repair and rental shop are available on the premises as well. Since Solitude has made peace and relaxation an art, rejuvenation is also at your doorstep at Club Solitude featuring a sauna, pool, hot tub, games and movie nights.
