Snowbird is a breathtaking ski resort nestled in Little Cottonwood Canyon inside of the gorgeous Wasatch National Forest in northern Utah. The drive up Little Cottonwood Canyon transports visitors into a snow blanketed, alpine wonderland of stunning jagged peaks, big open skies and dense kelly green forests. The resort is absolutely enormous, with 3,200 feet of vertical and spread out over 2,500 acres, every ability level of skier and snowboarder will find terrain to suit them. There are more than 85 named runs, 27% novice/beginner, 38% intermediate and 35% advanced/expert. Snowbird also boasts some of the most hair-raising steeps and chutes in the area in their massive backcountry area. The summit of the mountain is 11,000 feet and guests can take the area’s longest run down, Chip’s Run (2.5 miles) or opt for the longest decent on Gad Valley (3.5 miles). Snowbird’s diverse terrain, excellent weather conditions and immense vertical help make Snowbird a premier skiing destination.

On the slopes guests will find plenty of activities such as snowshoeing, backcountry skills clinics, avalanche safety courses, night skiing and snowboarding and guided snowmobile tours. In and around the area guests can participate in mountain school camps, ice skating, as well as a series of amateur races throughout the season. Speaking of season, Snowbird and its neighbor Alta generally boast the longest season of all the resorts in the area, starting in mid-November and sometimes lasting until the 4th of July, guests get to enjoy Snowbird’s pristine mountain for over half of the year.
